Collect the Hardware You Need
You need a PC running Windows 95 or NT 4.0 or later.
Before you start installing your router, you need to have the following on hand.
Gather the Information You Need
The worksheets in Appendix C (page 37) provide a listing of the information you need to configure the IP set of protocols on your router:
You always need IP address information. See IP Addressing on page 38.
You may need to configure TCP/IP on your PC for communication with your router. See PC Settings on page 42.
If you are using the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), see Dialup PPP on page 40.
If you are using Frame Relay, see Frame Relay on page 41.
Via the Console port. You need either a VT100 terminal or a terminal emulation program running on a PC. See Using Quick Config.
Via the ETH1 port. You need to have TCP/IP configured on your PC. Depending on the system you are running on your PC, see either TCP/IP on an NT 4.0 System on page 9 or TCP/IP on a Windows 95 System on page 10.
This is the default Ethernet IP address that your router comes with.
