This appendix provides the procedures for installing optional modules in the 3000 Series D Secure Gateway Router and for installing and removing a SIMM.

Installing a Module
The procedure for installing a module in a 3000 Series D is basically the same for all the modules.
To install a module . . .
You can install the ISDN router modules only in slot DIM2.
You can install the Ethernet router module only in slot DIM1.
You can install the T1 or E1 voice module only in slot PIM1.
You can install the Ethernet voice module only in slot PIM2 or PIM4.
When you install an ISDN, SDSL, DDS, T1, or E1 module, do not connect the telephone line until you have installed the module itself.


CAUTION:
If you have a slot in your 3000 Series D that does not have a module installed in it, be sure to install the appropriate blank slot cover in each open slot to ensure proper airflow inside the chassis.
