Getting Started With Voice on the 3000 Series

Thank you for purchasing a 3000 Series Secure Gateway Router, equipped with the Analog Voice Module. Here is an overview of how to set up and configure your 3000 Series.

1. Set up your 3000 Series hardware using the
3000 Series User Guide

The 3000 Series User Guide describes the features of your 3000 Series. It also explains how to install the hardware and access the Command Line Interface (CLI) software on your 3000 Series.

CAUTION:
The voice ports on the analog voice module have
RJ-45 interfaces. Inserting an RJ-11 connector into an RJ-45 port can damage the pins in the port. (Note that telephones typically come with cables that have RJ-11 connectors.)

Using an RJ-11 connector in the voice ports voids the warranty of the analog voice module.

2. Configure your 3000 Series for data routing using the
Command Line Interface or QuickWeb

3. Assign an IP Address to the Analog Voice Module using the
Command Line Interface

To communicate with the analog voice module, you need to assign an IP address to the module. To do so, use the OpenROUTE command line interface (CLI).

1. Connect to the CLI and then display the Voice Config> prompt.

*config

Config>voice

VOICE Config>

2. Use the set address command to set the IP address.

VOICE Config> set address = 192.168.20.10

3. Restart the router to cause the new address to take affect.

VOICE Config> exit
Config>
*restart
Are you sure you want to restart the gateway? (Yes or [No]): Yes
