This document describes the configuration commands for Fractional T1 and E1 devices. It includes the following topics:
Displaying the T1 Prompts
Displaying the E1 Prompts
Fractional T1 and E1 Commands
Overview of Fractional T1/E1 Devices
The FTE1 device comes configured for either T1 or E1, but not both. The FTE1 software automatically detects which option is present, and restricts configurations accordingly for either T1 or E1 operation.
Physical Device Features
T1 modules support the following features:
Extended Super Frame (ESF) framing using B8ZS signal coding at 1544 kbps according to AT&T TR62411.
Integrated Channel Service Unit (CSU) and Data Service Unit (DSU).
You cannot configure the following characteristics, but you may need to know them for line provisioning specifications:
DS0 Idle Code is 0x7F
Clock source is derived from the network
CRC-Multiframe framing for E1 using HDB3 signal coding at 2048 kbps, according to ITU-TG.703, G.704, G.706, and TBR13.
Unstructured E1 using HDB3 coding at 2048 Kbps, according to TBR12.
Clear Channel Capability on each DS0, and supports Nx64Kbps channel arrangements.
For T1 applications, N=1 to 24. The T1 module is also compatible with the Nx56Kbps channel arrangements, for links that cannot support Clear Channel Capability.
For structured E1 applications, N=1 to 30. For unstructured E1, N=32.
HDLC data, and either PPP or Frame Relay data-link layers.
Facility Data Link (FDL), as specified in ANSI T1.403 and AT&T TR54016, for monitoring and reporting line error statistics, and facilitating network-initiated loopbacks for diagnostic purposes.

Press Space twice after you type a command to display the available parameters for each command. Enter help for information about using the command line interface. [C] means the command is available at the T1 Config <NET-#> or E1 Config <NET-#> prompt. [M] means the command is available at the T1 <WAN#> or E1 <WAN#> prompt.
Clock [M]
Sets the clocking for T1 or E1 modules to either derived or internal. By default, clocking is derived from the network. You should use internal clocking only in configurations where two T1 or E1 modules are connected back-to-back.
Syntax: clock
