- Long Syntax:
- NLSP.021 no multicast support on ipx_node
, IPX circuit ID
īzlīzkčīzlhīzkøīzl(īzlXīzlīzlHīzl8
- Description:
- The received LAN Hello packet indicated that the sending
router does not support the NLSP multicast address. To allow
the routers to interoperate, this router is automatically switching
over to send NLSP packets using the LAN broadcast address
instead of the NLSP LAN multicast address on this circuit.
- Cause:
- One of the routers on the LAN either can not support or is
configured to not support the NLSP multicast address.
- Action:
- None. Everything is automatic. The message is just information.
However, the circuit may be configured to always use the
broadcast address if a workaround is ever needed for
a situation involving interoperability with other router's
support of the NLSP multicast address.

- Description:
- During the building of a LAN Hello, there were too many neighbors
to fit them into a single LAN Hello packet. The packet size of a LAN
Hello packet is limited to the actual maximum packet size
on the circuit, which is shown in the message.
The packet is still built and sent with as many neighbors as can fit.
The actual maxmimum packet size is the smaller of the packet sizes
supported by all the neighbors, but it must still be at least
a minimum of 576 bytes.
- Cause:
- There too NLSP neighbors on this LAN to fit within the
actual maximum packet size of a LAN Hello packet.
- Action:
- Reconfigure the network to reduce the number of NLSP neighbors.
- Action:
- Check if the configuration of one of the routers needs adjusting to
increase its maximum packet size supported.

Packet for the given LSP ID. This should be an
extremely rare occurrence. This LSP ID will be kept out of service
and not regenerated for the maximum LSP age out period,
which defaults to aproximately 2 hours.
- Cause:
- Unknown. The sequence number is a 4 byte unsigned number
and should not be overflowing except in extrememly old, large
NLSP networks. This is more likely due to router memory corruption
or a software bug.
- Action:
- None, recovery should be automatic after the maximum LSP age
out period.
- Action:
- If the router is to be restarted as part of the recovery action,
the router should not be restarted for the LSP age out period.
- Action:
- As an emergency workaround, the router could be immediately
restarted if the NLSP System ID is changed to another value
on the problem router. By changing the NLSP System ID for the
router, this changes all the LSP IDs generated by the router.
