3000 Getting Started

Getting Started With Analog Voice on the 3000 Series

This document gives an overview of how to set up and configure a 3000 Series that is equipped with the Analog Voice Module.

1. Set up your 3000 Series hardware using the 3000 Series User Guide

The 3000 Series User Guide describes the features of your 3000 Series. It also explains how to install the hardware and access the Command Line Interface (CLI) software on your 3000 Series.

    CAUTION
The voice ports on the analog voice module have RJ-45 interfaces.
Inserting an RJ-11 connector into an RJ-45 port can damage
the pins in the port. (Note that telephones typically come with
    cables that have RJ-11 connectors.)

Using an RJ-11 connector in the voice ports voids the warranty of
    the analog voice module.

2. Configure your 3000 Series for data routing using the Command Line Interface or QuickWeb

  • The CLI includes Quick Config, a question and answer script that lets you set basic configuration information.
  •

  • For information on using QuickWeb, go to About QuickWeb.
  • 3. Assign an IP Address to the Analog Voice Module using the Command Line Interface

To communicate with the analog voice module, you need to assign an IP address to the module. To do so, use the OpenROUTE command line interface (CLI).

      a. Connect to the CLI and then display the Voice Config> prompt.

      *config

      Config>voice

      VOICE Config>

      b. Use the set address command to set the IP address.

      VOICE Config> set address = 192.168.20.10

      c. Restart the router to cause the new address to take affect.

      VOICE Config> exit
      Config>
      *restart
Are you sure you want to restart the gateway?(Yes or[No]):Y

    3. Install and initialize the NetrixView 2000 software

To set up the analog voice module, you use the NetrixView 2000 software. See Installing the NetrixView 2000 Software for instructions.

Note: When installing the software, be sure to follow the instructions on creating the initial virtual network.

    4. Set up your analog voice module using the NetrixView 2000 software

Using the Analog Voice Module walks you through the tasks needed to set up the analog voice module using the NetrixView 2000 software.

NetrixView 2000 also has online help that gives definitions for buttons and fields. In addition, once you install NetrixView, you can access the documentation online.

For instructions on using NetrixView 2000, select the Network Exchange 2200 Documents and then select Configuring and Monitoring a Network Exchange 2200. The following chapters relate to setting up the 3000 Series analog voice module:

    • Chapter 3:  Networking with SFTM. To communicate between other 3000 Series voice modules or 2200 voice cards, you will use SFTM (Switched Frame Transfer Mode).
    • Chapter 6:  Setting Up Trunks. You will need to set up IP SFTM trunks.
    • Chapter 9:  Voice in the 2200 Network. The analog voice module supports all the features of the XV-A card, including all of the features of the Universal Analog Interface (UAI) daughter card. This chapter also includes information on the H.323 Agent.
