    Notes: Your mask may vary according to your network and your IP address definitely will. When you use PAP or CHAP, the router at the other end will have the compliment of what you've configured on your router. In your router, you are the local unit. In the remote router, yours will be referenced as being the remote. Of course, you will use the real name of the routers.

If you give the router a HOSTNAME, please give it the name you will use when configuring PAP or CHAP. To do so:

* Talk 6

Config>SET HOSTNAME router

  • Where the PAP or CHAP name matches the hostname.
  • If you do this when you first start configuring, you won't have to re-enter it when you are configuring PAP or CHAP… you'll only have to change it from the default.
